Projects / Office / 119th Street Tech Park

Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States and Jonkman Construction has mastered the craft. At least 10,000 buildings enclosing more than 650 million square feet are constructed annually. This is due, in part, to the economics of Tilt-Up, which combine reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction, and minimal capital investment. The process is amazing to see as the building’s walls are poured directly at the job site in large slabs of concrete called “tilt-up panels” or “tiltwall panels”. These panels are then raised into position around the building’s perimeter forming the exterior walls.

The 94,841 square foot Farmers Insurance building sits within a renewable bamboo perimeter inside the 119th Street Technology Park in Olathe, Kansas. The structure is a perfect example of fast and efficient design build construction. The project’s shell was “tilted up” in March and the doors opened in December of the same year. In addition to the massive square footage the 3-story building also credits a 3-level parking structure and extensive site improvements.
